Sunset on a cold winter's day

Thank you for all your kind wishes for Luke. Last night we got the results of his blood test and he has tested positive for glandular fever, and as it is viral the antibiotics won't help at all and it will just take time and rest to get better. The steroids have made a bit of a difference, the swollen tonsils have gone down a bit and at least he can swallow more comfortably and therefore eat more. He is upset to be missing a week of university but he has emailed an essay to a lecturer that was due. He is more upset about missing sport, he is not allowed contact sport for four weeks due to the liver and spleen being enlarged and the possible risk of rupturing. I cannot believe that bad luck that both he and Adam got it - it is so common at university it would be brilliant if there was a vaccine that they could administer to all students before going off to university. I just hope he is well enough to go back to university on Sunday, the doctor said we need to monitor the situation before deciding.

It was a cold but beautiful day today - I had a dentist appointment late this afternoon and I managed to catch the sunset as I came out of the dental surgery. The patch of frozen ice in the foreground did not melt today.
