Ho hum...

This has been a singularly uninspiring day for me, photographically speaking.  Fortunately, there were loads of finches (house finches, as seen here and goldfinches) so getting an emergency blip wasn't difficult.  This one is a particularly brightly colored male.  Scientists believe that the brighter red male house finches have better success attracting mates than those who have less red. I can kind of see why.  For a common little bird, they are actually quite striking.  

Had a cord of firewood delivered today and Hubs is now busy moving it from the driveway to our wood shed.  We are all ready for the "big storm" this weekend ...which, depending on which weather forecast you look at has us getting anywhere from 1 to 8 inches of snow!  That's a pretty wide margin for error, isn't it?  What seems certain is that the Washington DC area will be hit hard so we are hoping that our nephew, niece and their baby stay safe and warm.
