A long walk.

The biggest day of all the week loomed in front of us, we were all happy to see a clear blue sky open up the other side of the window when we woke up.

An early start and we were soon high up into the mountains, large and steep snow fields started to appear and we soon had our crampons on. Some of the guys had never worn winter kit so it was good fun for them to get some practice in on some easy slopes.

We had our first summit at lunch and then made our way for another six hours to the foot of the next valley, feet nicely worn and legs loose, it was a pleasure to feel solid ground rather than snow under the feet. A beer and some chocolate and we were off again.

After 12.5 hours walking, climbing and snow traversing we reached the hotel where a shower and more good food waited. We chatted over dinner and had some laughs at each others expense as our friendships developed.....too many beers in the bar that night led to a too late night....not sensible.

it was to be a short walk the next day.......short but very steep!!
