Japanese Jack
Someone in the Bittern Hide last evening asked me if I go there in the morning. I haven't done but gave it a go today. It was raining when I arrived but the aspect for photography is better at that time of day as the hide faces west. No sign of the bittern or anything else interesting so I went for a long walk around the reserve.
I met lots of lovely dogs but didn't see any unusual wildlife. I photographed the above heron using a slower shutter speed than I would normally select. I quite like the way its wings are blurred, giving a sense of movement, yet its eye is fairly sharp.
Pure luck but I also like the lack of detail in the background, the image reminds me of those simple, stylised Japanese crane paintings. :)
