2016 Saturday -- New Master Bathroom
We've now been married almost 51 years, and we've always showered together. When we got married at 15 & 19, showering together just seemed like the racy thing to do.
We had no idea showering together would become a life-long habit. So as we discussed the remodel of this beach shack and the bathrooms, we casually discussed the concept of a double shower head in the master bath. We also had to decide whether to have a fiberglass shower shell or to have a tile shower.
Originally we chose tile; our lead construction guy cautioned it would be more expensive than fiberglass, so we changed our minds and selected fiberglass.
Back in summer when the first phase of construction was completed and I realized the guest room shower had a shower curtain, not a glass door, I was thoroughly disappointed. I'm just not fond of shower curtains. We asked then about a glass door for that shower and our lead construction guy basically said it wasn't possible; then we found the manufacturer's suggestion for what to purchase for a glass door and knew it was possible.
But initally we were told we'd have a shower curtain in the master bathroom if we selected a fiberglass enclosure (we're not sure that's really the case, but it is a large shower and tile seems so much more appropriate than fibercase). So we vacillated several times, but settled on tile. I'm so glad we did. Most of all, I love the double shower heads.
Today, finally the glass doors were installed. The chemicals need to dry before we get take our first shower.
So that's the story!
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
P.S. Mr. Fun also wanted the exit door because he believes this side of the house, the south side, should have an exit in case of fire. Actually our construction crew suggested the exit door could be in the bathroom. Each morning we take the pups out of their crates, which are in our bedroom, step into the bathroom, and step out of the exit door and into the fenced backyard. It is a grand set-up.
