"The past is a foreign country......"
I ventured down to Daisy Nook with the DSLR and the ten stop ND filter, planning to experiment with some longer exposures.
They were all pretty bloody awful, so I've gone with this blip instead.
Last night I went to a fortieth birthday do of a woman I've worked with for more than fifteen years.
I bumped into a few people there that I've not seen for about fifteen years; one of them was an ex-girlfriend. (I used to work with her husband; she first started seeing him after I finished with her.)
I didn't speak to her much beyond saying "hello" but at one point we got the chance to catch up for a few minutes.
I mentioned my current girlfriend and she stopped me and said "Girlfriend? You're not married yet?" and I laughed it off. She gave me an exasperated look as if to say "You've never changed" - quite peculiar really.
A while later I saw a sister of the woman whose fortieth it was. I also knew her many years ago.
When she realised who I was, she said "Oh I remember you! You had that nice tattoo on your stomach! And the piercing!"
I went bright red. There were people at the do who I work with now, who never knew me when I was in my twenties. They started asking questions about what I was like then. So I went even more red.
Someone nearby said "Well you must have made some impression if that's how she remembers you"......
It's strange seeing people that you lose touch with. It's almost like it was a different life.
