Gum - ugh!
This is a section of the pavement outside the Royal Centre in Nottingham. I have chosen it quite arbitrarliy as it is truly reoresentative of every paved surface in the city. The white dots are chewing gum, and there must be literally millions of them on all the paved surfaces and paths throughout the city.
It is rematkable, and I think it is offensive and disgusting for gum users just to spit them out onto the pavements.
Litter is a related issue and the whole scene is typical of antisocial, selfish and thoughtless attitudes to care and cleanliness.
i would contrast all this with Japan, visited recently, where town and city streets are spotless, devoid of litter and such like. It makes me ashamed to be British when I look at this stuff.
End of rant!!
