All Saints at Lund

The village of Lund is perhaps as well known
these days for its splendid hostelry -
The Wellington - but its immediate neighbour
can hardly be missed and seems to appeal for,
if not demand, a visit. The first church on the
site is believed to date back to 1042-1066.
The nave was rebuilt in 1240 and the chancel
added in 1320. One of the two bells is dated
1639 so presumably there was a tower before
then. In or about 1845 the building had become
dilapidated requiring a substantial rebuild.
In the foreground the Norman font bowl of 1150.
The magnificent East window depicts the birth
crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.
