Saltcoats Hall
Originally Saltcotes Hall.
There are not many very old buildings in Arnside but this one has a date-mark of 1679.
Built and occupied by a branch of the well known Saul family. They established a salt-cote where at high tides sea water could flow into clay lined pans. Evaporation then provided crude salt. This is one of the oldest inhabited dwellings in Arnside.
I have been asked to make a correction to the journal entry attached to farm shop post of a few days ago. The people who work in the market garden do not have learning difficulties nor are they generally disabled. They are, I am told, individuals who are suffering from depression. Reports of the benefits are certainly very positive.
