Sherif Hutton Castle

Up early for a bike treasure hunt. We were greeted by chilly conditions and a strong wind. Still good to explore a new area and to arrive back with warm hands due to my new handlebar mitts. The event was based at a pub in Stillington and provided a warm fire and a warming bowl of soup. Just as well as we sat and watched snow and hail falling before the prize winners were announced.

On the way home we drove past Sherrif Hutton Castle built by the powerful Neville family. Richard III stayed at the castle and his only legitimate son is believed to be buried in the village church. the castle was quadrangular with towers at each corner.
