Hen.....

.....on ice.  If you've ever wondered what ducks do all winter, then you don't have to wonder anymore, as this is it!!  The ice is strong enough for them to stand on, but there are lots of areas of open water too, so some are swimming about in it, some occasionally fly back and forth to the group of ducks that are congregated on the other end of the lagoon, and most are just standing on the ice. Occasionally a scuffle breaks out among the drakes & they'll chase off the unlucky one, but mostly....they just stand! I'd guess there were at least a couple hundred ducks there this morning--I took some "group shots", but in the end I liked the hen........just standing.........  :))
