Day 30 of 366 - St John the Baptist Church!

Today's image was taken this early this afternoon in the City Centre of Coventry. It is a view of St John the Baptist parish Church. The Church is one of the most historic buildings in the centre of Coventry and dates back to the year 1344. The origin of the church starts with the land owned by Queen Isabella (wife of King Edward II) being given over to the Guild of St John the Baptist to build a chapel. Years later as Coventry flourished as a centre of trade the chapel was extended into the church near to what we see today. The church was closed after King Henry VIII's dissolution of the guilds 1546 in Coventry. It was also used as a prison during the English Civil War. Where Scottish Royalist Soldiers were imprisoned. As the people of Coventry were Parliamentarians, the prisoners were treated quite coldly. So the term 'sent to Coventry' became known. The building was finally restored as a church in 1734. The church is a Grade I listed building.

The photo was taken using the App ProCamera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Camera+ to edit the image. I used the Scenery preset to brighten the image and boost the colours. Next I used the app Handy Photo to delete the crossing signs from the road, as well as the signs outside the church. After this I used the app Painteresque to turn the image into a painterly style. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Canvas texture and the Leather frame.
