Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2016 Tuesday -- The Kitchen

We continue to get questions about the "new" house and friends wanting to see the remodel. So here is one angle into the kitchen.

This shows the toe lights and they have a dimmer switch so we can turn them quite dim at night and have no glare on the front windows as we look out at the ocean.

This view also shows the illumination under the top cabinets. These give added light when we are preparing and cooking meals and also as we eat at the wide counter space that faces the kitchen. That counter also provides a lovely place to see the front windows.

The pot-filler above the range was a request of mine, and so was the sliding door that keeps the 3 pups in the kitchen while they are eating and especially when they are done and then they love to run to the front room carpet to wipe their mouths. Now they cannot do that and I have provided a small rug/placemat for each pup's food dish so they must stay in the kitchen until they are released.

I am quite pleased with the polished floor  tile because it is easy to clean and it does not show dirt. The pattern has enough "grain" that it does not reveal dried spots of whatever nor the crumbs we drop.

The white cabinets are not painted, but rather it is a baked and treated finish that wipes clean with a damp cloth. The bright white looks nice in this coastal home. I really like the built-in paper towel holder.

The sandy-nutmeg colored back-splash and countertops are all the same with no seam dividing them, just a smooth molded curve, which is very easy to clean.

A big priority for us is "low maintenance."

So more views later.
