Twist in my sobriety
I must start by apologising to anyone who read my use of the phrase "Top of the morning" yesterday and out of 1+1 made a "in bad taste" 3. About 9 hours (23:45) after posting the entry, I turned on the TV and heard of Terry Wogan's death. I was as so many sad to hear of the news but also in my case shocked about the coincidence.
24 hours later I'm still trying to get it out of my head. I have never been a user of the greeting. No doubt I have said it half a dozen times in 60 years but only for a very specific need - could be that now I have an Irish son-in-law, I may have greeted him in the morning as he switches on the kettle for his first cup of Barry's Tea. By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both my son and s-i-l who share the same birthday and it's tomorrow or today as I am writing this after midnight.
Anyway, I don't think Terry would hold it against me. As a small tribute I have back bliped something in 1974 when I used to see him from time to time when I worked near Aunty Beeb's HQ. Good guy, natural, humorous, laughed at himself and worked hard for his well earned success. I wasn't a big fan, even hated Blankety Blank, but hat off to Sir Terry. Nowadays one can't ever be sure what comes out even after death about so many of the "stars" of the UK 60s & 70s entertainment business but I am sure he will remain on the ever shortening list of good ones.
Today was back to mid summer. 15°C at midday, yesterday 0°C. I wanted to go and Blip a Land Rover at Erkheim belonging to one of the employees of the agricultural merchants. It's always there so had a certain Blip in the can. On the way, nearly ran over a heron searching for something on the main road verge. Turned around hoping to get a great close up. Two U turns later stopped so close to the heron that I couldn't see it hidden by the passenger door. Leant over and at that moment it took off. Only got a rather fuzzy snap with the camera held out at arms length.
In Erkheim after the walk, found the Land Rover was not there! Guess the driver or LR are sick. As I drove up the drive, the sun light reflecting on the flooded field looked like it could produce something for the photography course "shutter" homework. The Blip is a few efforts. In the early morning I had tried without success to catch the kite or buzzard or harrier that was spotted on Saturday.
Then sat outside with a cup of coffee enjoying the sun and messing about with the dogs when a bird of prey of some sort, about the size of a pigeon, shot between us at head height and shot in to the forest. Had I put out my hand I could have touched it.
Had one more attempt at camera work when our daily visitor, a deer came up to the house. Managed only one shot as it saw the red LED on the camera but have shown it as an extra as I managed a blurred foreground!
Added after initial post. I threatened after Blip had been rescued then the next project was "Brexit". This morning I heard the UK was complaining about being left out of the advantages of those in the Eurozone!? However I loved what I just saw outlining Camerons schedule in the next weeks following his meeting with EU president today. "Next week he will be meeting with selected EU country leaders - after that he will be visiting Mrs Merkel"? Almost as good as his comment last week after getting back from Brussels " I have just got back from Europe and ......." ??
I will be pledging for "Brexit" - where is the crowdfunding site?
