Wastwater
A bit out of the way for a normal LPH week, but with the main road down to the south lakes closed, other possibilities open up...
Today was a trip to Wastwater. After the obligatory waterside shots we went up Middle Fell (it's the one before you hit Yewbarrow). Just under 2000ft, and it felt like it too. I'm normally OK with hills, but this cold made it seem a lot harder work.
Getting to the top was reward in itself. The views across to Scafell and Scafell Pike with the tops of Great Gable and Kirk Fell poking out above Yewbarrow were stunning. Luckily there had been a little snow the night before which make everything look so much better.
