Shades of sundown

Have you noticed the glorious sunsets we are regularly experiencing these days. Or is it simply my artistic eye is taking account of the striking impact of the setting sun on quite ordinary horizons as I search out  new and different subjects for my daily Blipfoto.
Today’s offering of trees silhouetted against the Ickenham sunset reveals just how dramatic the impact of the sun sinking below the horizon can be.
In daylight the view from this garden held little which merited a second glance. Yet by dusk it held an entirely fresh complexion and I was even called to see the effect.
The trick when trying to catch it on camera of course is just how low do you allow the sun to sink before you press the shutter. Too low, and you will miss the arresting effect altogether. Too soon, and you’ll not capture the reflections of the fading sun on cloud to its best advantage.
It’s always infuriating too just how quickly the sun will wink at this time. If you haven’t got the camera ready, you are likely to miss it completely.

To the camera enthusiast you can always come back another day in anticipation of getting a completely different viewpoint on the same thing.
