People's Park, Halifax

Opened in August 1857 and encompassing over 12 acres of previously barren land, it was landscaped by Sir Joseph Paxton, architect of the Crystal Palace.
It was donated by the local manufacturer Sir Francis Crossley. After a period of decline the park underwent restoration in 1995.
