Our First Visitors

Spent the whole day today here at our temporary house, studying, sorting, and cooking for a meal tonight, with our Portuguese colleagues, who have their married (to a Brazilian from Manaus) daughter with them. Part of the cooking included removing eight (eight!) dead birds from the extractor fan over the cooker. We think there might be something similar in the chimney, as the main result of making a fire in the fireplace is that we all stink of smoke...

M made curry (very British) - as usual, I forgot to take a photo until we'd almost finished - and I made chocolate sauce to go with Spanish strawberries. A lot of laughter and stimulating conversation - no-one wanted the evening to end.
