Fairy house in the trees
We went for a lovely walk in the Rosehaugh Estate this morning. It was dull but dry and we explored some new paths. A few snowdrops were lining the path but I wonder if some have been washed away as there were only a few next to the burn. It could be that it's colder lower down and they are yet to make an appearance. We walked up to the old ruins and tried to imagine how the old house looked in it's heyday. I found a cover to a hydrant that was made by a firm, Guest and Chrimes Ltd, in Rotherham.
On the way up the hill we stopped at the Fairy Houses. There's a few strange things that have been added. A skeleton lay next to the day, a left over decoration from Halloween, maybe ?
This little house was hanging in the tree, a tiny wheel barrow had tiny tools inside and a couple of fairies were sitting by their front door.
Several buzzards and a Red Kite flew over head as we walked to have a look at the Red Kite self catering that was at the end of a long corridor of trees. A lovely, secluded house.
On the way back to the car a family asked if we knew the area as they were searching for the Fairy Houses. The little girl was very excited and had a wonderful little hand drawn map. Hope they found them ok.
Maps seemed to be the 'thing of the day' as on the way in a jogger dropped his route map. We tried beeping and calling out but he did nt stop and we could nt catch him up. It was a long route so hope he knew where he was going !
