Well! A blip adventure......
......with mrshb70, with thanks to freespiral for initiating the holy wells challenge!
Mrshb70 called just after noon to collect me for our blip trip, in search of lunch and a holy well. Lunch wasn't too much of a problem and we had very nice vegetable soup and wheaten bread to set us up for our magical mystery tour to Cooey's Wells.
We had a sort of idea where we were going, just past Portaferry, on the Ards Peninsula, but that was about it. An encounter with a pleasant motorist (we'll just ask someone, will we?) assured us we were on the right road. Such an adventure! There were lots of fab derelict buildings en route, so another outing may be in order at some stage.
So here is my blip for today, two of the three wells attributed to St Cooey, abbot of Movilla Abbey, who died in 731. Apparently the church suffered a lot of pillaging from Norse men, which surprised mrshb and me, as we wouldn't have bothered pillaging in such a bleak spot.
Extra is of the 'fairy tree' behind the wells.
