Between fen and mountains

I joined the Walking for health group in the next village.  It was a gentle walk of only about three or four miles and no mountains!  It was pleasant enough to be out in the sunshine.  I discovered I knew one of the walkers and he recounted his story of an uncle lost over France during the war.  After an enormous amount of research G. was able to track down the crash site, discover the landowner and with the help of the villagers put up a memorial and organise a ceremony involving the families of many of the crew's descendants.  This was attended by the Air Marshalls of Australia and New Zealand as it had been a multinational crew.  It was an amazing combination of detective work and good luck and the retelling of the story occupied the whole walk.
