Dickens Challenge - Hard Times

Dickens Hard Times 2 (DHT2)

"It was a town of red brick, or of brick that would have been red if the smoke and ashes had allowed it; but as matters stood, it was a town of unnatural red and black like the painted face of a savage."


This week's Dickens quotations were more difficult than last weeks, especially as I don't live in a red brick sort of town. I needed a trip up to the city so I had a look for something that might fit.

By the way, I did a bit of editing to get the look, the area is better  kept than this!
