Wrong place for Right Whales

If you saw the item about the endangered right whale mom with her calf that was trapped in Sebastian Inlet today....they made it out o.k.!!   We know, because we were there.

It was a very helpless feeling watching her try to guide the baby out of the narrow inlet against a tremendous current...again and again they tried only to turn around exhausted each time.  (16 attempts before they succeeded!)
I think the tide turned when the tide turned, and began helping instead of hindering.

There are only 450 to 500 right whales in the entire world.  The mother was 45 feet long, and the calf was 20.

This was a once in a lifetime event for us....we had never seen a right whale, and certainly had never seen a mom and calf!   Of all the possibilities of wildlife sightings in Florida, I never thought this would be what we would get to see!
