The life & times of Jacks

We had a fab day driving out to Lynchburg, Tennessee to visit the Jack Daniels Distillery.  The drive out was pretty nice - interesting to see some of the countryside - and a lot of cows!

The distillery is in Moore County which is a dry county.  This means that no Jack Daniels can be sold inside the county (with exception of a small amount of sales from the distillery to tourists).

There are statues of Jack all around the place - he was a pretty short man but obviously a genius as this distillery is amazingly huge and successful.

We bought a single barrel bottle for ourselves and even got it engraved with our names and the date which is pretty cool and means even after the whiskey is gone we will have a nice keepsake.

After Lynchburg we headed back to Nashville where we went back into town to go to the Johnny Cash Museum - another awesome experience!  The exhibits include hand written explanations of the items by Cash himself and there is (obviously) music playing throughout the museum.  I think I have now heard Walk the Line about 1000 times on this whole trip.  Love it!

We then went shopping for some cowboy (or girl?) boots for me and then to find some hot chicken which is supposed to be a Nashville speciality.  We went to Hattie B's for hot chicken.  I had mild and Steve went for hot.  Mine was reasonably burny and so it was not surprising to see Steve *almost* cry with how hot his was.  There was one on the menu called "Damn Hot* and the hottest is "Shut the cluck up".  Steve was pretty pleased he stuck with hot!

Had a couple of drinks before heading back to the hotel for the night as we had to try to fit in the country music hall of fame before heading to Memphis and with some weather warnings coming in we wanted to make sure we got up and out.

Another great day in Nashville.
