Hong Islands
Today we hired a long tailed boat and driver, who took us to the Hong Islands which are in a National Park. They are very beautiful and consist of limestone karsts, blue lagoons, mangrove forests, and stunning beaches. One of the islands we visited has been open to tourists only for a few years. Before that, the locals made a living by collecting birds nests for soup, and vigorously protected the place against all visitors. Hopefully they now receive more income from the tourists.
Kai did really well with his snorkelling and we managed to show him scorpion fish, a small grouper, angel fish, and many other types of colourful fish, as well as gorgonia fan coral, and many types of hard coral too. He loved it and kept squealing with delight through his snorkel.
The main picture is Beck admiring the sunset just after we returned.
