Mount Teide (Tenerife)
After breakfast we went for a drive up into the mountains towards Mount Teide which is in the national park and a World Heritage site. It's a bit like a moonscape and some lovely views are to be had.
What surprised me was the sheer volume of cyclists cycling up these steep mountain roads. I think it's a bit dangerous as they could easily be hit from behind but it certainly doesn't put them off. The main blip photo shows some heading towards us.
The extra shows the other sport practised on these mountain roads - that of 'flatboarding' where they skate down the hills at terrific speeds often followed by a car filming their exploits. Again, quite dangerous as they have no real brakes and which reach some quite fast speeds.
