Seal Rock
Today we drove from Five Rivers to Te Anau ( a mere 1 hour journey today) and we then boarded a coach for a Milford Sound Nature Cruise. This area has an incredibly high rainfall but we were blessed with no rain, very little wind but no sun until the boat was berthing at the end. The low clouds and high sides of the fjord do create a very atmospheric scene and the young lady gave us an excellent commentary ( as did the coach driver).
This group of New Zealand Fur Seals ( once hunted for their fur but now protected) seemed unperturbed by the close approach of the boat to the rock on which they were hauled out- probably because they are nocturnal feeders and no doubt very used to the cruise boats.
Lovely sunny drive back to Te Anau- our penultimate stop in NZ.
