Macro detail

Yesterday's problem has now been solved, I managed to find a nice working solution that ticks all the boxes, which is good. I left work on time and even managed to get all my shopping without a fuss or a rush for my train home!

Today's blip is a close up of something, common and prosaic, but it's a nice classic design detail that has been there is some form for decades. Can you guess?
