Avenue Of The Glaciers
Very early this morning, our ship passed through what is known as the "Avenue of the Glaciers" in the Beagle Channel, heading towards Ushuaia, Argentina. This is Italia Glacier -- a tidewater glacier -- which means one that makes its way all the way to the ocean. That blue colour has not been fiddled with on Photo Shop -- it really is that shade of turquoise!
I woke this morning not feeling great -- and now Richard and I are quarantined in our cabin, because the doctor suspects I have contracted the bacterial infection that's been plaguing our ship for the past several days. (Apparently it is not norovirus, thank heavens.) I'm now on antibiotics and a strict and drearily bland diet for the next couple of days. Sadly, this meant we could not get off the ship today, and take the End of the World Train as we had planned. Luckily we do have a very beautiful view of Ushuaia and the majestic mountains that surround it. We also experienced a brief spell of snow this afternoon!
