Still In Jail ...
Sorry for the boring entry today ... I'm still under quarantine, and not allowed to leave our cabin (although they've allowed Richard his freedom!) We are currently plowing through the Atlantic Ocean, so there's not a whole lot of things to photograph from where I'm sequestered, other than sky, ocean, or the section of wall in our cabin that's become our social calendar. Our useful and adorable magnetic grandchildren are doing a splendid job of holding up various notes, dinner dates, and cards!
Yesterday evening, the Captain announced that due to "weather conditions" (right now it's sunny and about the calmest day of sailing so far, so I don't really believe this!) our scheduled stop at Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands has been cancelled for tomorrow. This is the third port of call that's been scrubbed from the itinerary so far -- and I'm really disappointed, because we were going to visit a penguin colony there. Also, one of the ship's propulsion pods has become entangled with fishing net, which is affecting our speed. I suspect it's more the fishing net than the "weather" that's scotched our Falkland Islands visit. So, now we look forward to four long days at sea until we reach Punta del Este, Uruguay, where divers have been booked to fix the pod problem.
