These are the giant rocks that litter the landscape in this area and you can see the orienteers rushing round the edge towards the finish today. Quite a few courses have checkpoints in the rocks but the course planners, probably fit young men, seem to have a pretty dismal view of the capability of women in the W60 class to climb over the rocks and my course today was a too easy. I felt a bit cheated but it was probably just as well because it drizzled all day, the rocks were slippery and I was not wearing shoes with metal dobs that give you the confidence to scamper over the rocks
