Messing About in Boats

I spent this morning messing about on the computer rather than boats, but we managed to get out this afternoon for coffee and a walk by the river.

The showers held off and we lingered by the canal basin where the in/out lock was kept busy.

Watching canal boats go through the lock is a real spectator sport, there's even a pedestrian bridge built over the canal where people can rest, watch and take photographs.

This was quite unusual, a double decker boat, at first it looked like it would be too wide for the lock, but they knew better and manoeuvred it through.
