Kronur
One of the pre-holiday buzzes for me is always getting the currency. The spread of the Euro has rather lessened that delight of exploring unfamiliar public figures and landscapes. However, Icelandic Kronur arrived today ready for my upcoming trip, so new, crisp and shiny. And the lady on the 5000 note has a magnificent ruff. I discover she is Ragnheiður Jónsdóttir (1646–1715), a noted seamstress and Bishop's wife.
