Visit to Dulwich
Ever the culture vulture, I was able to combine catching up with a dear friend and a quick fix of the arts.
The Dulwich Picture Gallery has a splendid little exhibition of Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup, who I knew nothing about. Some debate about the cherry blossom/ rhubarb proportioning and his ability to portray mountains.
Behind the gallery is a charming haven of serenity, the alms houses, with this delightful statue of Edward Alleyn a key player in one of the most creative periods in the english theatre and literary history.
