A good and bad day

We left for Glasgow this morning to attend a farewell dinner arranged for me at Guy's Restaurant in the Merchant City. Unfortunately just beyond Dumbarton I hit a pothole which bent the wheel rim and deflated the tyre. Unable to stop on the busy dual carriageway I carried on until I was able to pull off in the muddy entrance to a quarry where we phoned the emergency service. Every time a heavy lorry came by we were covered in muddy slime!

The tyre of course was ruined, but the breakdown guy took us back to Dumbarton where we had a new tyre fitted. The extra is of the damaged wheel.

We made the venue in time, just, and had a wonderful evening, with lots of wonderful gifts, cards and farewell speeches. Staying in Glasgow tonight and will come back in the morning.
