Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)

Today was another 92? day, sunny and hot. I am NOT complaining! As the grandkids swam in the pool, I watched the wild flowers for any new visitors. I've seen the Painted Ladies flying about and flirting with the Swallowtails, but they are HARD to catch as they don't stay anywhere very long. I felt very privileged to catch this brand new Lady on the Sweet Williams. She is so vivid and daring--I love her colors, eye spots, blue sheen and furry body!! Hurrah for summer!!
