Ice and Fire

This shop caught my attention in the Cannon Beach magazine I picked up at Portland Airport. The advertisement said glass blowing demonstrations were available seven days a week! What an opportunity! After waking from a delicious sleep, I ventured to the shop to see the goings-on. It was a treat! Jim started a new piece--he added colors, black strings of glass, and worked diligently on the mouth of the vase. It was so fascinating.

There have been only a few times in my life that I have been discontented with my financial state! Today was one of them. The blown glass pieces were so beautiful, the colors were so appealing, and the prices were way out of my budget. Years ago I found a painting of the sea in a gallery in Sisters that I would have bought had I been flush, also a hand-made rocking chair in Newport called to me very distinctly.

I guess missing only 3 opportunities isn't too bad!
