Şirin Pancaroğlu
We were honoured and delighted to host Şirin Pancaroğlu in our theatre this evening. Internationally renowned Turkish harpist, inspiration for several composers, (including Bora Uymaz, who was in tonight's audience), this extraordinarily graceful and beautiful musician kept an auditorium of alumni, teachers, parents and students completely enraptured for almost two hours with her words and music. Her voice and her instrument were the audible definition of serenity. What a way to finish the week.
(In the absence of a real one, I was "official photographer", for this event, sitting in the theatre balcony, hence being able to take and display a couple of half decent images !! I continue to be amazed at how well my Panasonic FZ200 copes in such difficult conditions - almost full zoom in stage lighting in an otherwise darkened theatre. Thanks always to ex blipper David Hobbs for his recommendation of this marvellous camera - so perfect for my needs.)
btw, more info about Sirin Panacaroğlu here and here and you can listen here to her playing 'Asturias' by Albeniz, with which she finished tonight's performance although I have to say that my favourite piece of the evening was Arabesque No1 by Debussy.
