The Long Slope
The grown-ups are at play in the snow, without a single child to use as an excuse. Our ages range betweeen 23 and 64 but we all had a go, an most of us had a lot of goes!
We tried the track we made on the first day, in the garden, and it was very fast :-) but also very hard and bumpy :-( so my inbuilt Health and Safety officer said it was time to give up there.
Then we moved to yesterday’s track, in the field behind the house. This was much smoother and also fast but one branch of it ended about two meters from a large boulder and we never knew which track the sledge would follow, so we deemed that to be too dangerous as well.
So then it was off to the large slope on the other side of the hill. It took the rest of the day to really get this up to speed and we all got fitter as we trudged up the hill, making the path as we went (180 steps apparently!) The day was a bit cloudy but stayed just below zero - perfect for sledging!
(Catching up now the visitors have gone home - loading up my Blips for the 17 - 20 February.)
