But, then again . . . . .

Ancestors.

Mono Monday, hosted by MrsLinda today, has the theme of “Ancestors,” and I see that I’m not the only one to venture into the local graveyard to plunder a view. Fortunately, the remit doesn’t specify whose ancestors should be the subject.

This is Saint Mungo’s churchyard in Penicuik, just before sunset, while on my way home from the reading group. Having made a good impression there with my performance of the “Subaltern’s Love Song,” I proceeded to disgrace myself by suggesting that the inventions of labour saving devices, such as washing machines and vacuum cleaners, had lead to an increase in the incidence of diseases such as heart attacks in women - which had, hitherto, been a condition more prevalent in the males of the specie. I had always considered this to be a fact, though I’m quite prepared to accept that it is an urban legend – possibly one only known to myself. Fortunately, we parted as friends, though I do feel that I am at a disadvantage being the sole man amongst so many ladies.
