Sydney Harbour from North Head

For our last day in Australia, Bob and Denise showed us around the area they grew up in. Bob arrived from Scotland at primary school age, but Denise was pure bred Aussie -but luckily had some Scottish blood in her, so recognised a good thing when she clapped eyes on cousin Bob. We explored the area from North Head, through Manly and further north. We heard what life had been like in the days after the war, and how the area changed as Sydney expanded. Again Denise acted as Chauffeuse and did a great job putting up with her three passengers with their questions (A & M) and route suggestions (B). Luckily the Air Conditioning in the car worked, as it was another hot day and we spent a bit of time at various viewpoints and paddling at Manly Beach.
We tried to get an early night as we were about to put on our International Traveller clothes again and we had a relatively early flight. Jocinta had kindly offered to take us in to the airport and suggested a 5.30am pick up. Plans didn’t exactly run as hoped for, and I found myself scanning old photos of common ancestors and discussing our family tree with Bob. Margie did the packing, clever girl.
