Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago)

I think this Snipe thinks I can't see him, because they are such secretive, shy birds, but look at this scene without the benefit of a long lens and this bird is almost invisible. The extra is of another Snipe out in the open showing off her filtering skills, with a lovely ripple around her in the afternoon light. I went out for a belated bird hunt and came back with too many birds, the sad thing is that it is starting to get hot again here! Many, many thanks for all your hearts for my Shrike and Cormorant, they are very much appreciated.
