Fast Work!
It was just one week ago that I blipped a female red-shafted Northern Flicker, and this morning she returned -- with a mate, today's blip!
They took turns at the elevated suet feeder (see extra of the female), clearly enjoying the repast on offer. We're hoping that they will set up housekeeping in the flicker box in the back yard that Phil built a couple of years ago. They'll have a week of privacy starting tomorrow morning, as we'll be away, but if they (and the other birds) deplete the feeder, this handsome pair will have to forage for themselves -- bed, but no breakfast.
(Added later: Phil has a lovely photo of this bird's better half here.)
