Winter colours
A light powdering on Ardmeanoch this morning, soon gone as the day warmed. I took the dogs out the hill to bring in the ewes that haven't been coming to the feeding. Its a month until lambing and I would like to make sure they are getting their feed now. They can survive quite well on the hill without it especially as they have been given a slow release mineral bolus. But now they will really be needing extra. It appears I am in sync as I did the same on this day last year!
Then I went down with husband to put out the silage bale with the cows and help him move the ring feeder by hand, much easier with two people. The young cows on the shore appeared and it looks like they will get a little more feed now. Its the leanest time of year now for the livestock. We need a good early spring this year to make up for last years late spring and non existent summer! When sorting out the shed we put out the Shetland tup Harold who always at this time of year becomes fed up with being contained and starts destroying things by head butting them. He has been working on the hay heck that has his silage in. Hopefully he will be happier outside with freedom.
4c overcast with icey showers.
