Waiting for the boat..

.. to take me to work on Barra. It seemed a shame on arrival to have to go inside for the rest of the day.
As a real bonus it was parent's evening too so I got a chance to talk to all the parents of the pupils I've been teaching for twelve days. All were actually very supportive and appreciative that someone was here to teach their sons and daughters.
I still find it hard that they cannot fill the well remunerated maths post on Barra and indeed on Benbecula. I suspect if many teachers from down south appreciated the quality of life up here, then they would be jumping at the opportunity to work in a secondary school of fifty polite and interested pupils.
