Take Two
(I originally posted a photo of Phil sampling beer, taken with my iPhone, but the color was off and the focus not sharp, so I've replaced it with these leggy palms.)
We started the day with a walk around our neighborhood, marveling at the palm trees, citrus trees, and exotic-looking flowers. It's fascinating to be in an area with such different flora!
Most of the rest of the day was spent sitting in pubs, so it's a good thing we got some exercise in early. Our first stop was Cellar 3 in Poway, part of Green Flash Brewing Company. We shared sampler glasses of six or seven delicious sour beers, as well as yummy personal pizzas from the Friday Food truck there.
As the day was still young, we decided to go to Stone Brewing as well, as it was on our way back to our Escondido accommodation. Applause for Phil's capable driving in seven lanes of traffic on a Friday afternoon!
We had a great time at Stone as well, sitting out in the pleasant garden, enjoying the mellow sunshine, and then had a leisurely supper, with excellent service and plenty of interesting food choices.
There's another brewery on our list for tomorrow, aptly (for woodworker Phil) named Toolbox Brewing Company. I want to try the Citrus Gose -- ale brewed with key lime, Meyer lemon, coriander, and sea salt... and maybe the Chocolate Imperial Milk Stout with cocao nibs, aged in bourbon barrels.
That's enough typing with my right index finger on my phone for today! I really miss the ease of blipping from my computer, and may hold off doing any more blips until we're home again.
