...to Plymouth today. Visited an art exhibition in the university called Soil Culture: Deep Roots. It was really interesting, sort of combining soil science and art. There was a huge 'painting' comprised of squares of colour where the artist had used different coloured soils from different parts of the world as paint. The range of colours was amazing. There was also an exhibit by someone who had researched different plants that are able to neutralize toxicity in the soil and he displayed his results in a very 'artistic' aesthetic way. There were also exhibits by Andy Golsworthy - one of the pioneers of the 'Earth art' movement. Would have liked to have taken photos but unfortunately it wasn't allowed so I have contented myself with a picture of the outside of the university building which contained the exhibition - the Roland Lewinski building. I like the combination of order and randomness in the windows. They also remind me of that old computer game 'Tetris. The windows are like the shapes that come tumbling down the screen in that game. The extra pic is of steps leading up to the Roland Lewinski building.
