Homeward bound.....

Needing some refreshments on the way home from Akaroa, J and I stopped at the delightful café called The Raspberry Café.

Operating from the grounds of the Otahuna Berry Farm, The Raspberry café is a café of homemade, delicious and satisfying food in an environment that is peaceful for a pleasant dining experience.  In 2000 "Rose Cottage" was purchased from Hohepa in Barrington Street. Of classic bungalow style, it had been used as a home for Hohepa residents and their carers who had simply outgrown the building. The building was picked up and moved all in one piece and in November 2000 was positioned on the lawn at Otahuna Berries.  "Rose Cottage" has now become The Raspberry Café, a café I will certainly revisit.

Thanks J for our Akaroa stay, the garden is looking much better and I enjoyed the village lifestyle :)

My extra:
A local shot taken after a meal out with my dear hubby. We decided to have a stroll through the main street to see what's been happening while I've been in Akaroa. So many changes in store for our small town, progress was very evident. After the earthquakes the local council gave up its gardens and lawns for some temporary sheds to be used for businesses who had to move due to earthquake damaged buildings. These sheds worked really well allowing business to continue to trade. Now new buildings have grown replacing the rubble and the very last of the temporary sheds was on the move tonight. This one was the 'Toyworld' shed with matching coloured truck I see :)
