Liberation of Kuwait Memorial

Part of the Gulf Wars was the liberation of Kuwait during Operation Granby was commemorated today 25 years after the cessation of the war.
47 British lives were lost, all 47 names were read out with the regiment or service that they served with.
I was surprised at the number of RAF deaths, 5 aircrew and 3 ground crew, the rest of the 47 were various branches of the Army.
It was quite a moving ceremony with a Tornado flypast, which was very fitting as it was the Tornadoes that dominated the conflict second only to the USAF but much more than other coalition forces.
It was a good ride too, 1.5 hours there and again to get back home. Very cold on the way up but not so bad on the way back.
See extras for the Tornado and me!
