Wellies #2

The girl got some new wellies today (Charlie and Lola wellies as that is her current obsession) because I never noticed she grew out of the other ones and kept trying to stuff her feet in size 4's! She thought they looked best with this pink tutu. :)

Really, though (warning- going off on a tangent) what is it with the pinkification of the female species? I have tried to ignore things "princessy" when getting things for Cleo and have bought her toys aimed at girls and toys aimed at boys for a balance. If there is ever a choice between pink and not pink I pick the not pink. She does have a fair few pink things, mainly due to the lack of choice (walk into the girl's toy/ clothes aisle and the choices are pink, or rose, or pastel pink, or cerise, or light pink, or dark pink, or hot pink...) but now, for some inexplicable reason, she absolutely LOVES pink! It was the first colour she could identify and ALWAYS the colour she chooses. *sigh* Where did she get it from? Marketing to children must be very insidiously influential! It's not that I hate pink, either, I just think there are other colours- a whole spectrum of wonderful colours that gets ignored when making things for girls and some guy in some office has decided that "girls like pink" and that's that. I know it can only get worse as she gets older. :) Now, I will have to get back to a more important task, hiding Disney!

Despite all of that I do love her fashion combo!
